A Week and a Half with Aven

Aven finished her internship in Colorado on August 7th. I was the lucky one this time who got to fly to Denver, help her move out, then drive back to Washington. Greg got to do the trip when she moved to Colorado. :-) She loved her time at FCI Constructors in Colorado and confirmed that she chose the right major - she really enjoys Construction Management.

Aven’s last day with her project team.

While in Colorado, she got out quite a bit doing hikes in the area.

On August 8th, I flew to Denver, CO.

Aven and I spent the afternoon packing and cleaning in her rental.

We had one last yummy dinner at the Bohemian Biergarten in Boulder - this was one of Aven’s favorites that she found while there for the summer.

August 9th and 10th were spent driving from Longmont, Colorado to Hood River, Oregon.

On Tuesday, August 11th we celebrated Dave and Linda’s (Greg’s parents) 60th wedding anniversary. They are beautiful people and I’m very happy to have been part of their family since Greg and I got married in 2006.

The dinner was held at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. Yep, the one that was featured in the Grimm episode called “Blind Love” (season 6, episode 7). Nana fell in love with this hotel after watching that episode and was very happy to visit in person!

On August 12th, we got to spend the evening hanging out with our friends (Dan and Inara, Melissa and Finn were already gone to bring Finn back to college). They have a beautiful view from their home on Fox Island, WA.

Back in Anacortes we drove up to Cap Sante Park. What great views from up there!

While Aven was in our area for a few days, we did a couple of hikes (Fragrance Lake, near Bellingham and Maiden Peak, near Port Angeles).

We saw a very pretty sunrise one morning.

On August 19th and 20th we helped Aven move into her townhouse at Boise State. She is rooming with 3 other women and we’re looking forward to hearing about her fun and successes this semester.

We are looking forward to having the freedom to swing through Boise pretty regularly to visit Aven.
