The First Month on the Dock in Poulsbo

We will be on the dock in Poulsbo from November 12th - January 14th. It is making it much easier to come and go during this holiday season. Here is Aurelia at the dock.

We wanted to have our car with us for these two months, and it was an outing to make that happen: Uber ride to Kingston, walk on the ferry to Edmonds, Heather (Greg’s sister) picked us up & drove us to our storage unit in Anacortes, then the drive & ferry ride back to Poulsbo. Here’s our car on the ferry.

We’ve gone for walks around Poulsbo and found many nice/fun views.

Cindie’s sister (Debi), niece (Bri), grandnephew (Kash), and grandniece (Nellie) came for a visit.

We fit in a visit with our good friends Fran & Jeff before they headed back to the Sea of Cortez to live on their boat for the summer season.

Due to water accumulating in the transom on Lia (as seen in a video on the “Back to Gig Harbor - and a Haulout for Lia” post), Greg made a hole so we can drain the water going forward.

For Thanksgiving break, Aven was supposed to fly home on Friday, November 21st. She got to the Boise Airport, went through security, and was waiting at the gate. Then, she heard that her flight was delayed. A short time later they canceled & rescheduled her flight to 6 pm the next day. Unfortunately, we had plans the next morning, so that flight would not work for us. We tried finding her another flight, but there was nothing available - the worker at the airport even told her “not a chance” regarding trying for standby! So, she took an Uber back to her dorm and we got in the car to make the 9+ hour drive to pick her up. We were in town for about 10 minutes, then drove straight back. We got back to the boat at 3:30 am. Whew, that was a long trek! But, we were more than happy to have Aven home.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Cindie’s family this year. Here are some pictures we took throughout the day.

The day after Thanksgiving was spent relaxing and putting up Christmas decorations.

December 6th was Julefest in Poulsbo. This is an event to celebrate the changing of the seasons. During the event, there was a torchlight procession honoring Santa Lucia (a tradition symbolizing light in winter darkness). The Lucia Bride led the way and lit the bonfire in the Liberty Bay Waterfront Park. Here are some pictures from that event.

And a couple videos.

Cindie’s sister, Debi, turned 60 in early December! We spent a few days with family in Mosier, Oregon (near Hood River) to celebrate.

December 13th was the Lighted Boat Parade in Poulsbo. We had a great view from the bow of our boat.
